SKILL SET FOR FUTURE WORKFORCE IN THAILAND

Abstract

This paper examines future human skill set of working in Thailand through three timeframes - AI developing (2020 - 2029), working with AI (2030 - 2059), and living with AI (2050 –2060). Dephi method and PESTEL analysis are used to identify the future skill set of Thai workers. The findings are as follow: Thailand could be in the AI developing phase, while working with AI and living with AI phases would be far beyond predictable. Evolving with AI for Thailand occurs in financial and banking industry, and ICT industry such as Bank of Thailand, and Revenue Department. Skill set for future workers are creativity, digital skill, quantitative analytical and statistical skill, coding, data analytical skill, open-minded to adaptation and lifelong learning, people management skill and biotech literacy. The external environment that affecting future skill set includes - no clear plan or government policy for future skill, economic factors influenced by China, changing of people's livelihoods and population structure, legal structure and mechanism. Most organization do not have clear plan to use AI and worker skill developing. To do this, operations of the firms need to be redesigned by incorporating AI and cultivating related employee skills.
